I just got a 60D and just started using the video on it. Any helpful tutorials out there to help me edit my videos? And/or helpful tips to keep in mind? Thanks in advance!

Not DSLR specific, still a great place to start.

Also try the Cinema5D forums...

So you're asking for tips on how to do something that people study for 4 years in college and continue to learn everyday on the job?

Ive know many with a BS in this adn a BS in that, and It usually equals just that BS. This guys not asking you to teach him or tutor him, hes asking for your advice as to where to find some good info. Ill bet you two guys never got good advice from anyone, You did it all yourself. Be a pal not a pri*&.

Justin Check out Creativecow.net / Lynda.com / keep trolling here and just ignore Gamefarce and those like him. Shoot some and play with it. Find a look you like research it and then try to reproduce it. good luck.

Don't want to help the guy, then don't post. This forum is for, inter alia, beginners to seek help and/or guidance.

Yeah, I got that. I help all the time but asking for general help on a topic like this is stupid. Where do you start? Camera settings? Discussion on Composition? Post workflow? Color correction? Story telling? Editing techniques?

Quit being a retard. This is a topic that us professionals learn more every day we work. We go to seminars, we read blogs, WE POST ON DISCUSSION BOARDS. This thread is basically asking how to build a nuclear reactor in your basement with no physics knowledge and no engineering knowledge. The OP obviously thinks this is something any talking monkey can figure out with 5 minutes of their time, and yes I take offense to that.

You got THAT out of his original post? Go take your meds.

P.S.: A talking monkey would be awesome, even if he DID shoot crappy video.

Someone has a talking monkey in their pants. And it ain't me...

OP, keep cruising the forums here and all the other spots linked in this thread. You're not going to get it right away. It takes a good long time to do this right. If you just want to shoot videos of your friends and family, that's cool too, but there are some real profesionals here that shoot some amazing stuff. Learn from them, study their work and like it was said above, try to replicate it if you want to get better.

Also, ask more specific questions. You got lucky here in that people gave you some help, but your question is very, very broad. I understand Gameface's testiness with your question. I've been working in the video production field for almost 19 years now and I'm still learning everyday that I work. Having a DSLR that shoots video is only helping me to further my education, which I suspect will go on until the day I die. And I make some money off of it from time to time, which doesn't hurt. Narrow your search peramiters a bit and you'll get better responses.

The OP owns a 60D, I don't see where he stated he's a professional like you. If your such a professional what is the point of your post and why are you wasting your time here. I didn't realize a Canon 60D was aimed solely at the professional video market. There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the OP question and the context that he's asking it in. Get off your soap box.

OK... what do you think I should help him with smarty? I can answer almost any question he has but I'm not going to write a novel on the basics of shooting, directing, producing and editing a video, sound design, story telling, etc. I paid top dollar for quality people to give me an education on that and continue to learn everyday. I even learn from people on here who are less experienced. I would be more than willing to answer anything you or he/she asks. But saying "give me advice" on this means I could encapsulate my knowledge on shooting, editing and producing video in a couple paragraphs. It just isn't the case. If he instead asked "what are some of the downfalls of recording audio using a DSLR" or "what settings should I be looking to shoot for in low light with these lenses I own" or "should I be transcoding my footage before editing" or "what should me sequence settings be", etc?

Get IT? Not "Tell me how to shoot, edit and create videos please".

You should actually feel lucky you have this kind of knowledge so easily at your disposal. I never did. Quit being a prick to the people that help others and take yourself down a peg.

I think the most productive thing you could do at this point is to stop saying anything; the damage is already done.

OP, (if you haven't been bullied to the point that you've fled this forum), there are scads of videos on getting started in DSLR. Do some searching on YouTube or Vimeo for starters. Vimeo has a channel called "Vimeo Video School" that's tongue-in-cheek humorous and helpful for beginners. Most importantly, charge up your battery and do some shooting. You'll quickly start formulating more specific questions to ask here. Hopefully, you'll get a better reception than the one you got this time.

Cheers
