The High Trestle Trail Bridge is located in Boone County, Iowa, just outside of Madrid, and is the destination centerpiece of the High Trestle Trail, 25 plus miles of abandoned ROW, now paved, running from Ankeny to Woodward. The bridge is built on the pillars of the old railroad bridge, spanning approx. 1/2 mile and rising 13 stories above the Des Moines river valley. The "hoops" are a nod to the rich mining history of the area, and at night LED lighting provides an obviously spectacular effect.

I am in love with this bridge. I sit out there at night after the blue lights are shut off, listening to the music of the night, far enough from the city to see the stars, the first time ever saw the Northern Lights was on this bridge, actually the only time. This bridge is where I go to talk to God, and the peace I feel out there quiets my soul enough sometimes I believe I hear Him answer.

This particular evening, I believe mother earth decided to show us all how it's done.
