We were on a whale watching excursion when while returning to the Lahaina harbor we were treated to a lovely rainbow. I had decided to not bring the 5D and 24-105 along since I had not needed it on the previous excursions. I therefor only had my 40D with 100-400 so this is what I got. The wider lens on the full frame sure would have been nice.

Thanks guys. The rainbow on the ground was really cool. The clouds were right down in the little valley and laden with moisture. It was the light refracting through that moisture rather than true rain. Sure wish I had the wide camera/lens at the time to do it real justice.

Bless the recently fallen and their family and friends.

I must be missing something. You say you are on the way to the harbor but in the first photo it appears you are above several buildings. Nice photos. Thanks

You are correct, Dave, that is the way it looks. Shooting with the long lens distorted the perspective. I was shooting up the hillside from a deck about 35 feet above the water. Too close with the 100-400 to get the water and the rainbow in the frame, even at 100mm.
