Konova (external link) system for $240 + SH.

That's pretty cheap. Any review or feedback?

hmm... Looks cheesy but I could see it as an acceptable cheap option for a beginner. It lacks one of the main focuses of a matte box in lack of filter holders.

There also seems to be a lot of "joints" for this thing to fail.

Gameface hit it on the nose. The one review I have seen about this rig also raised the concern about the joints failing. I forget where that review of this product was, otherwise I'd link it here. They said that one of the joints did fail, but it was fixable with a simple solution. But that raises another question, why make it with cheap bits that will fail that quickly? Why not fix it so that it is more robust.

I think in the end the review basically said that if you weren't planning on pushing this rig too hard and putting too much wieght on it, then it had potential, but if it were made a bit more robust, then it could work out because it was so flexible.

So maybe you'll need to reengineer some stuff to make it work for you. But I personally don't like to buy stuff that I know will fall apart fairly quickly and then I have to cut and hack on it.

Follow focus looks decent enough, everthing else looks horrible, what is the point of that Matte box over a regular hood? It doesn't even have a place to put square filters.

Thumbs down for everything but the follow focus.
