Somebody posted this on craiglist in their 24-105 for sale listing. Professionals don't use primes, apparently....

Here is my official survey of stud shooters:

A few months ago, I emailed a bunch of Canon's top photographers (known as the Explorers of Light) & a couple other professionals who aren't Canon's elite but also make six figure salaries from their shooting.

I asked them what camera body-lens combo they would choose and use for most of their portrait shooting.

Here are their answers:

Harry Benson: 1Ds Mark 3 & 24-105 f4 L IS
Frank Veronsky: 5D2 & 24-105 f4 L IS
Jack Reznicki: 5D2 & 24-105 f4 L IS
Douglas Kirkland: 5D2 & 24-105 f4 L IS
Greg Heisler: 5D2 & 24-105 IS lens since it's the highest quality & most versatile combo
Walter Iooss: 1Ds Mark 3 & 24-105 f4 L IS
Nick Vedros: 1DS Mk 3/1D Mk 4 & 70-200 f2.8 L / 24-105 f4 L IS
Bob Davis: iD Mark IV & 24-70 f/2.8
Parish Kohanim: 1Ds Mark 3 & 24-70 f2.8
Michelle Celentano: 5D Mark 2 & 70-200 f2.8L IS
Greg Gorman: 5D2 & 70-200 f4 L
Hanson Fong: 5D2 & 70-200 f4 L
Bambi Cantrell: 1D Mark IV and 70-200 2.8 L
Clay Blackmore: 1D Mark IV and 70-200 2.8 L

Actually, only 2/14 use this particular lens.. twice as many use the f/2.8. He's counting on people overlooking that.

I count 7. Only 2 using the 24-70, 4 using the 70-200 2.8.
