I need some help with a download problem

I am having the problem shown on the uploaded picture with about half of the 500 photos I took on my new Canon T3i. This was the first time I have tried to download the pictures and have no idea what the problem is. The same thing happened when I tried downloading to my iPad and computer using both iPhoto and the EOS utility software. If I had to guess what the problem is it would be the memory card, but I am new to this kind of stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, the whole image is shown in the preview prior to download, and on the camera.

I'd start by looking at the memory card. Try another one also make sure you format it not just delete the photos off it. I don't know what you can do to save those you have already taken.

If you have a card reader, try saving from a reader instead of from the camera.

Yeah, before you wipe the card check it out using a card reader to see if you can read any of the corrupted files.

I'm a bit confused. When you say upload, are you saying you are sending these out to a remote hosted site?

Most image files, either jpg or RAW, contain a second low resolution jpg (in RAWs it is high res) which is used for previews and camera LCD reviews. It can happen that the main image is corrupted but the small jpg is fine.

It sounds like you are taking the photos right off your camera using the cameras' "interface cable". This can be a slow, and sometimes unreliable, method to get your photos onto your computer. Some computers may have trouble with the cameras' drivers or hardware.

Get yourself a card reader, remove the memory card from the camera, and transfer the photos directly from the card to your computer.
