This camera has been fantastic and has never given me any problems at all. A few days ago, I used it for some snapshots of my daughter and her friends going to a dance at the HS and it was flawless as usual. This morning, my wife pointed out a spectacular red headed woodpecker just outside the back door. I grabbed the camera, flipped the on switch and..huh? NOTHING! Completely dead. My first reaction is that it had to be a battery issue, so I switched them, still nothing. Changed CF cards, lenses, charged and retried batteries, and finally, gave the DC coupler a shot in multiple outlets and still nothing at all.

What could possibly be going on for it to work fine one day, sit in a bag for a couple of days, then not work at all? I'm sure its fixable but I needed it for the weekend so I am also sure its not fixable in that time span unless its something I can do or its easy for a local shop.

I only found one other thread here about something similar and it turned out to be a faulty switch. I guess that could be the issue but why all of a sudden like this? I'd love any thoughts from the board as to what could be going on and why? I baby my gear and as I mentioned, its been tucked securely in my bag since last use when it worked fine as it always has.

Thanks in advance for the help. Looking forward to hearing what you all think.

I would assume faulty switch as well. A contact probably wore down or snapped off internally.

I doubt it's fixable for the weekend, Canon will probably be the only people that can diagnose it easily.
