I dunno if its just me but i actually dislike using photoshop, i find it far too complicated and i dont like the idea of messing around with a picture to MAKE it look nice. Im a firm believer that anyone can make a picture look amazing by using PS. i really only use it to change the pic black and white and put my sig on the pic.

Anyone else the same?

Hmm...you started out asking about Photoshop, which is a high-end photo and graphics processing/editing application, but then it sounds like you are, well, "complaining" about doing photo editing and processing in general, so it's hard to address your question...or are you actually looking for feedback at all?

GIMP's okay, but PS is just a little more neatly pinned together.

I dont use any processing software, except when I am shooting portraits or weddings. I may take out the wires in front of scenic pics (if I can figure out the Content aware fill from Adobe) but rarely. I bought photoshop elements because it was bundled with Premier Elements for around $70... Probably won't use it much.

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Yes you can use photoshop to make any picture better than it already is, but that doesn't mean a crummy photo isn't still a crummy photo. Photoshop is a tool to enhance your artistic vision, if your vision is only black and white with a signature then so be it. For people with more specific, precise, and hard to create visions, photoshop is invaluable.

Use Lightroom. Just the tools you need for quick post work. If youre shooing RAW (and you should be) then you HAVE to post some, as thats a RAW image and it needs a little luvin.

I love what photoshop can do, I just hate the process of doing it. I like to shot, I like editing FAR less. But I do it... it is a necessary process IMO.

I agree with Lightroom, the interface takes a bit to get used to but when you understand it you'll be able to make those big adjustments fast and it's non-destructive. slrlounge.com has a good free video series on how to use it, and best of all LR3 is $89 right now for students and teachers I believe.

Personally I don't like Photoshop. Or at least until Adobe adds the new code that removed
motion blur that they were showing at the Adobe Max 2011 a few months ago.

Currently Lightroom 3 Student/Teacher Edition is on sale at B&H for $69.99 and Free Shipping
if your in the US.

Or you can buy if off Adobe.com under the educational section for $89.00 less $14.00 using the
coupon code saveonedu, and download the application which saves shipping costs if your outside
the free shipping from B&H.

Both ways you need to upload proof that you are either a staff member of an acceptable
Education facility, or are a student at one, or you have children attending a k-12 school
that they accept.

Also Lightroom 4 is due to be released shortly as well.

I really enjoy Photoshop. I can toy with a single image for a good hour. It's relaxing to me.
