Hi

I bought a SX230 off ebay. It seems that the courier stood on the package and dented the top rear and the black back cover has been forced out. How can I loosen the silver edging to force the backcover back.

Any specific tests that I can do to ensure it works?

Thanks

I'd contact the seller and verify that it was shipped insured, at which point I would file a claim with the shipping company.

I'm not sure exactly how the top plate is connected to the body, but you should be able to pry it up just a tad with something akin to an eyeglasses or jewelers screwdriver, and then pop the plastic back under. After that, turn the camera on, make sure it responds when you move the wheel to each selection area and then test the zoom.

+1 for what Virto said...

If that doesn't work, just going by what I see on that picture it looks like the tabs protrude from the silver bit, so you'd have to pry the black plastic away with a small screwdriver, let the silver panel fall and snap the black panel on top of it...

The seller has offered a return and full refund or discount. The camera was such a bargin £90 and seems to be in working order so I'm going to make an offer of £30.

I'll try the prising back option after my offer is accepted.

Thanks for your input.
