This fella landed almost on top of me while I was in my neighbors drive, trying to get a different angle on my backyard perches. When he landed -my first thought was that -no way will my 400 5.6 get this--too close.
It did but, the closeness may have affected the focus a bit.
I did no cropping on this -- this is the way it was shot.

nice little pose, dont you wish Hawks and eagles were that brave as to land a few feet from you on a branch so you can take these pics? Little birds are just more brave I guess.lol

Wow, that *is* close, Mark. Yes, then the MFD becomes a problem. But I think you nailed the focus pretty nicely. Seems like a very inquisitive little fella. Great shot.
