Thanks everyone:) seems like the last two are the winners. I hope to get the 3rd one enlarged for their wall at home. The first two def need work. Are they salvagable with some exposure help in LR or PS? I used fill light slider big time in LR already....

adamg5 I'm comparing the sun in the first two shots with the last two. Were the last two images taken around an hour or so after the first two?

This set could be a really good example of 'golden hour/magic hour' photography because the lighting is really beautiful in the last two where the sun is lower in the sky compared with the first two where the lighting is 'less magic' I guess you could say.

These look really good, I think. The first might be a tad underexposed, but it's still really nice. Where were these taken, if you don't mind me asking? I live in Lemoore so you can be pretty specific.

A bit more light on the faces would have hit it the mark, but the pictures are great non-the-less. For not having much experience in the family portrait, you did an AMAZING job of placement of your subject and capturing the moment. Kudos to you.

Thank you :) It's a really nice orchard on the northwest corner of Shields and Leonard.

Hey thanks, that's a big pick me up in the learning process :) Ya I have been kicking myself for not using my 430 ex II to help with lighting

Absolutely LOVE all of them. One thing I always say, however, is- "get closer, get closer, get closer until you screw it up, then take a step back." You definitely could have afforded to get closer and fill the frame more, especially on #1 and #3. But other than that, GREAT shot, and beautiful family.

My sister-in-law lives off Ashland and Locan so I know exactly where this is! I've driven by those orchards and never thought of taking photos there. I may re-think that now. :-)

Oh! One thing I just noticed...there's a blue car at the end of the row in the 2nd photo. Now that I've found it I can't stop looking at it. Maybe clone that out. It's pretty small and far away but it's there. :)
