Hi, I could not find any info on the differences between the Gitzo 3530LS and 3532LS, as well as on the differences between 3541LS and 3542LS. Apart from the higher weights of the 3532LS and 3542LS, what are the other differences or improvements? Thanks for the inputs!

I think the best way to do this would be looking up the model numbers of the older ones on B&H and then compare the info to the specs for the newer ones on Gitzo's website.

Here's a comparison (note: No "max load" info available for the 3532LS & 3542LS on Gitzo's website):

Yeah, there was. The OP asked about the 3530 v 3532LS, so I created based on that. :)

A little disappointed that Gitzo hasn't posted the Max Load rating for the new 3532LS & 3542LS yet...but, we all know it's at least the same as the previous models.

:D

Okay thought so. Was just a little confused as to why the OP might want to compare two versions back of the 3 section 3-series Systematic and only 1 version back of the 4-section.

ben, there is no 3531LS in the Gitzo website. As a matter of progression, there should have been one but perhaps it has been phased out for some reason. I managed to download a catalogue for the systematic series and it says the max load for the 3532LS and 3542LS is 25kg.

Gitzo skipped over the 3531ls and went straight to the 3532ls

Guys, just a side question on the Gitzo nomenclature. What does the second digit represent? For instance:

3 - Tripod series
5 - ?
4 - leg sections
2 - design version

Thanks!

I have pretty much narrowed down my choice to the 3542LS. Is there any real difference in the torsional stiffness and rigidity compared to the 3532LS? Any real world experience on this? Thanks

Thought I remembered reading the 4-section actually ended up being more stable than the 3.

Also, at the price of the new GT3542LS, did you check out the RRS TVC-33?
