I don't have access to an enlarger yet (working on that) but in the meantime I have a scanner that will scan my 4x5 film. What software can I use to do this? Is there an interface I can use in Photoshop? If not I need a good stand alone scanning application for film. I am going to try SilverFast but I don't see anything that would be compatible to my scanner.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Shampoo sounds like an unfortunate name for a hair product.

I don't know off the top of my head if VueScan supports your scanner, but I would check it out; I use it for my Nikon 8000 ED and Epson V700.

Nothing is free anymore huh? :( You'd think the scanner would come with a negative film scanner. I'm using SilverFast Demo but it's putting little tiny logos all over my photos because it's not registered. :(

might help if you told us the make/model of the scanner... ;)

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

I'd recomment VueScan also.

I just downloaded it this morning before I left. I'll give it a whirl when I get home.

OK, so I have VueScan on my computer. For some reason it's not scanning like Silver Fast. What's my problem? What am I doing wrong with VewScan?

SilverFast:

The second scan looks like it thinks your scanning a slide, instead of a negative.
