You'll need a business license, seller's permit, and all that other great stuff to carry out business in California if you don't have one already. You may find that the spec work with youth sports is not worth the expenses and time to get everything set up.

I shoot my son's hockey team. I asked permission from all of the parents via email, promised not to use their kid's images to promote my site and use Zenfolio to sell. The Zenfolio galleries are password protected and I emailed the password to the parents. Hopefully I avoided any concerns that they had. I've had decent business, considering that there are only 20 kids on the team.

Good luck,
Jeff

I'm wondering what age the kids are? I've noticed here that the younger they are, the more that parents tend to buy the images.
Some help:

Wade into the business

I'm confused, why aren't people buying?

I feel like I might be selling myself short...

Check with your city's Tax office. They may have wonderful things to share with you, or some horrific paperwork.

Good luck.

I have Canon gear. SX1 IS, two 7D bodies and mostly f/2.8 lenses 10mm-200mm, doubler, and 17/4 TSE, some 580EX IIs. Additional portable lighting gear, and tripod with 360 pano mount. Want two 7D II bodies.
