need advice, 600Ws, 800Ws, or 1000Ws?

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a 600 / 800 or 1000w/s strobe with a bowens head, but looks like most that I find have a 220V only plug. The 300w/s strobe just isn't enough for my use, but don't know any brands out there that have more power and still use the bowens head (that don't cost an arm and a leg).

I'd like to stick w/ the bowens S mount since all of my other modifiers are that size. Any recommendations? Thanks!

You do know that you can mount most modifiers on any strobe using proper speed ring/inserts etc.

Depends on what your budget is. If your needing 1000+ WS, the PCB White Lightnings seem to be pretty popular. I think I remember seeing some used ones around here for ~$300-400.

Not data for Bowens, nor the same brand of modifier, but perhaps something to consider

Dynalite M500 (500 w-s full pwr) would yield f/16 at 4' or GN64 -- in a 24"x36" softbox. The softbox used was losing about -1.25EV

Extrapolating from those results...
Doubling power (1000 w-s) would result in f/22 with same softbox, or GN90, or f/16 out as far as 5.6'
Quadrupling power (2000 w-s) would result in f/32 with same softbox, or GN128, or f/16 out as far as 8'
