Soooo, went to shoot with my few weeks old macro L, stunning photos, but the IS motor was acting up & making weird high pitched motor noises....
Contacted BH already.
Thoughts? Common?
Thank you.

The IS is noticeably louder than my canon 17-55mm and the 24-105mm in regards to correcting moderate-severe camera shake. When the 100L is working hard, it sounds louder (more high pitched whine). When comparing them all on a stationary object like a desk, they sound nearly identical.

MatthewK Cream of the Crop More info | Mar 01, 2012 22:48 | #13 Yup, the IS in this lens is different sounding than the other IS-equipped lenses I have used. The other day, while off the camera, it made a clanking sound as if some pieces were loose. So re-mounted, engaged IS, and the sound went away. Very peculiar lens, this 100L, but damn does it take some stunners!
