For what a kid his age will be doing, an ipad is more useful than a laptop anyway.

He uses it to help him with his homework. If needs to look for an anwser, he surfs the web to find it.
He uses the calulator, plays games, etc.

About 80-90% of those have come in the past 24 hours. Really? What's the topic about?

This has been going on for decades and while this specific incident hasn't been widely know, conflicts in Africa just as bad (if not worse) have been well documented. Hotel Rwanda and Blood Diamond are just major box-office films that come to mind which rely on said conflicts as a main plot. My problem here is not with the cause, but with my generation jumping on the bandwagon as if it's some fad. It sickens me, really. Their oblivion to society unless it's thrown in front of their face by "liking" a video on Facebook is ridiculous. Mr. Itchy

Their oblivion to society unless it's thrown in front of their face by "liking" a video on Facebook is ridiculous. "Let's 'share' a video because that's what all my friends are doing, and this looks really sad". Not a single one of them are going to do anything about it, and inflating their conscious with the thought that clicking a button or two suffices for their good deed for the day is disgusting. By sharing they HAVE done something. One of the goals of the cause is simply to increase awareness, at least that is what they said in the video. Charity Navigator, a non-profit organization dedicated to "intelligent giving"[35] gave Invisible Children three out of four stars and a rating of 51.52 out of a possible score of 70. [36] Charity Navigator currently ranks Invisible Children two stars for accountability and transparency (primarily for not having their financial statements audited by an independent committee), and four stars financially.[37] The Better Business Bureau (BBB) noted in its report: "[Invisible Children] did not provide requested information. As a result, the Better Business Bureau cannot determine if it meets standards."[38] The BBB further noted that, "Despite written BBB Wise Giving Alliance requests in the past year, this organization either has not responded to Alliance requests for information or has declined to be evaluated in relation to the Alliance’s Standards for Charity Accountability."[39] Invisible Children's financial reports reveal that the organization's three filmmakers and co-founders received a combined pay of $262,287 for the fiscal year ending June 2011. This comprises 2.93% of IC's expenses.[40] In addition, Invisible Children holds the following assets: computer equipment ($751,000), transportation equipment ($288,762), video and camera equipment ($177,769), and furniture and fixtures ($45,361). During the course of the fiscal year, Invisible Children spent roughly $8.9 million, of which only ~$2.8 million was spent on directly helping people. Other major expenses included salaries, transportation, and production costs for films. [41] Will | WilliamLiuPhotography.com

See, my friends are all going to be on Spring break drunk out of their minds next week and in a month they won't even remember KONY. I think it's just "all of a sudden everyone's an activist" thing is getting under my skin. Sort of like everyone who picks up a camera is a photographer. Mr. Itchy
