This House Finch posed for me a few minutes. I don't see them very often around here.

Thanks for the comment, Sharon. Yes, send me some. Would a parcel post flat rate box work?

Thanks for the comment, Gerard. I just found this guy by pure dumb luck while I had my camera in my hand.

Thanks for the comment, JTX. I spotted this guy near the town of Caldwell which is about 100 miles northwest of Houston and 200 miles south of where I live in the DFW area. I have yet to see them around here.

A nice shot Bill. We have quite a few Finches here on the east side of the Metroplex. It's strange and I guess it's just the area. In the nearly 10 years of living here, I very rarely see or hear Blue Jays.

That is a very pretty capture Bill; I love the colors and the color these guys bring to the backyard.
I too have noticed that their numbers are reduced this year in my area. I have no obvious reason for it either.

Oh I see you weren't Home at the time of the shot. Interesting. I would have thought these guys were more active around more of the state than just down here towards the coastline.

Thanks, Brad. The Blue Jays and Crows are gradually coming back on the western side of the metroplex after being nearly wiped out by the West Nile Virus several years ago.

Thanks for the comments, Steve. I wish that they would show up in the DFW area. They are very pretty birds and I don't think that the sRGB color space of the posted image is able to do justice to the beautiful red color.

Even at Caldwell, I don't spot these birds very often. It is interesting that Cardinals seem to be one of the most abundant bird around Caldwell, probably due to the abundance of yaupon hollies. Where I live in the Metroplex, I only see cardinals occasionally.

Pretty shot and pose Bill... I have never seen a House Finch here, I always get the Purple Finch instead... they should be returning soon.
