Went to take a few shots of my college baseball team with my new Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS.. I think they turned out pretty good for the conditions.. Shooting under the lights after the sun was long gone. Let me know what you think! C & C appreciated! Thanks for looking!

Except for the pitcher there aren't any faces. Probably a stop underexposed too. I like the last one.

Its hard shooting at night and you did a good job! Did you switch up your position or stay behind the plate for most? 3 & 5 are my favorite. Not sure if I am crazy about the angle of the first one.

Truthfully the only one I somewhat like is that last one, and even then...

Face, ball, action. Then, horizons, focus, color correction, toning. For me a lot of your shots didn't hit enough of the points on the checklist of what makes a good action sports photo.

I have to agree here... It must have been the shooting conditions, but these shots do not work for me due to above listed reasons.

Thanks for the comments.. I pretty much stayed behind the plate.. This field isn't the greatest being that in order to get any more to the front of the batter, you have to go all the way to the other side of the dugout (no grandstand).

By then, I'd be all the way past first base with only 200mm with only the field lights, so I figured I'd stay close.

I was also trying to stay out of people's way since there is only one set of bleachers and I would have had to be right in front of it to get any more in front of the batter without going past the dugout.

Thanks for the pointers though!

Did you really hold the camera at a 45 angle for #1?

I think they are a good start! Small things add up. Night shooting is very tough. In number two clone out the light circles against the night sky and the two on the right of the pitchers face. Really easy and takes away a distraction.

Happy Shooting!
