How do you like 'dem' apples?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I drove past these apples yesterday and they had some late afternoon sun on them that just made them jump out of the landscape.

Welcome to the forum Carl. Two very nice captures. My favorite is the first one. I like the depth of field studded with red apples against the 'dead' background and the hint of snow.

Thanks Dennis. I'm trying to get past that threshold between "just a photo" and something nicer. At this point I feel like my eyes see better than my camera does. That is to say that I don't think my photos look as nice as the scene I remember. I understand composition, I'm a graphic designer/art director by trade, but I'm still working at finding the sweet spot in photography. Thanks again. Carl

I'm sitting here now watching the snow come down and two bluejays and mourning doves eating at the feeder trying to decide if I want to go out and take some shots. Do I risk using up my battery before we get together for dinner today? Decisions, decisions.
