It is true! The nex7 produces great images for APS-C but the nex5 has better high iso. I just wish the nex7 wouldn't vignette with leica m wide angle glass. Which is why leica guys buy the nex5n instead.

This is way off topic, but the thread's tanked anyway, right?

I've just submitted my second NEX-5N order (rather than the NEX-7) because, as you say, the 5N plays better with a much broader spectrum of Leica mount lenses (Leica, Zeiss, Voigtlander, etc) - but it's more to do with the type of lens. The 7 does not play well with the symmetrical lenses like the Biogons, etc, because the small photo sites are more affected by the very oblique light rays caused by the very shallow depth between the bottom lens element and the sensor (if I understand it correctly).

The larger 5N sites are less affected by the angled light rays, and don't cause the significant color shifts (magenta, primarily) in the bottom right and bottom left corners, as the NEX-7, with these symmetrical lenses.

That's all I'll post on the off-topic subject now.

Carry on 5D3 detractors, with coming to conclusions on a camera we haven't touched yet.

After seeing how clean the 5DIII ISO6400 pics looked, Im quite impressed. I cant wait to have my own hands on with this camera so I can do a proper ISO test with my needs.

If it's that sharp, I don't know why Canon don't try making it an F2 lens that's just a bit softer at F2?
I imagine people would gladly pay a handsome price for such a lens...

It seems to me the 5D is good with larger clearly defined elements even with high ISO's, yet anything with fine detail or small repetitive detail practically get's completely smudged over?

From a Nikon shooter who uses a D700. Do you own any of the 5D models?

just on ten years ago i spend 2200 on a 10D...6MP 4 or so FPS 1.6 crop barely any buffer.
Today 3500 buys 22MP. 6FPS. Stellar IQ. Brilliant AF. Weather sealing. HD video..on and on and on.
Its a steal not a rip off.."

Tbh, when I upgraded my 50D/550D to a Nikon crop, I was too clueless at the time to opt for a 5D classic or 1Dsii, rather than change systems...

Somebody paid $2200 for a 10D? Was he in Europe? 10D was $1500 when it launched.

As for good value, of course that's a personal call. But considering that the 5DIII is basically a 5DII with better AF (AF that, it should be mentioned, the 5DII should have had at its price point in the first place) it's kind of hard to swallow the $800 price hike. It's not a rip off, but it's certainly not a steal either.

UH oh!!! This camera was released on my birthday...Happy Birthday to me!! Guess now I HAVE to buy it!!!

BTW, this camera is a 7D on steroids!! It may need a * by its name
