I'm sorry, what about the 1Dx says low res? How many megapixels do you need?

More than 18.

The 1Ds3 sold pretty much on account of it's 21MP, which was high for its time. The 5D2's resolution almost singlehandedly killed off MF film for colour photography. These people bought the camera because they print large and highly-detailed photos - not for frame rate. And, in an update, we'd expect more resolution, more detail, more colour depth, more bit depth - not just the same thing, except faster. If we wanted speed, we'd have bought the 1D3 or 1D4 in the first place.

There's no real successor yet.

What really interests me here is the improved native ISO (from what I understand). For the 5DII to be 100-6400, and now 100-26500, thats amazing. I want to see how a clean raw 12800 looks like. Oh and did they change the battery too?

Anyone think the new BG-e11 will be compatible with the 7D?

That might help sales but the fact that there is a multi controller i don't think that the contact pins will be the same in the 7D. But then again i don't work for canon so i could be wrong.

I would expect it to be as compatible with the 7D as the old BG-E6 grip.

IOW not at all.

Same battery! And I think with RAW files, we should expect at minimum a stop of improvement. Especially going from native 6400 up to native 25,600... With no expansion.

Interesting. The rear wheel is also touch sensitive, so you can change settings in video mode without causing vibrations in your composition.

I get that, but we aren't needing larger and larger prints, so I don't see the point. Would you say the average physical print size has dramatically increased over the past 3-5 years? Not really.

And without adding clicky sounds to the audio track

By the looks of it, they are having NO problem selling this camera at current price. Pre-orders are being placed like crazy. Including myself :p I want this camera in time for my florida trip in May...

I am going to be unloading gear to buy it, though.

Has there been a camera that's crashed the internet before? The buzz seems a lot more than last time. I don't remember servers caving like they did tonight...

Most interesting!

Sensible amount of pixels...good.
Dual card slots...meh.
Almost 7 times the focus points...good, especially if they have a nice spread.
6 fps...meh.
63 zone metering...good, especially if you can link to AF points (which I'm sure you'll be able to)
3.2" screen...neat.

Very interested to see the high ISO samples...would be interesting to see what an average landscape shot (ISO 100/200) would look like vs. the 5D2 as well...
