There is no way I'm sleeping tonight!!! and no sleep means I'm going to have to sleep in school tomorrow :(

But you will be dreaming of your future 5D3. Just don't stand up right away when you wake up.:lol:

Not impressed. The ISO 800 shot looks noisy for a relatively low ISO (particularly chroma noise), while the ISO 6400 shot looks smeared by NR.

I'd like to see samples posted on http://www.imaging-resource.com (external link), to compare them directly against D800 and D7000 shots (the D7000 being the proxy for the D800, given the identical pixel density - the fact that the D7000 is 18 months older means the D800 won't be any worse) before making any judgment.

This guy is really working for Nikon.

I can understand a strong case for either side of the "success/failure" argument. It's $1,100 more than a current 5D II. To me though, a $1,000 is worth the noise reduction and auto focus. I shoot close to 100 weddings a year, and the autofocus on the MKII has been a killer more times than I would like to admit. For my line of work, $1,000 doesn't seem like much.

Great points from an actual working photog, plus the 5d iii comes with the snazzy Wide Neck Strap EW-EOS5DMKIII :)

I'll say it again - be very careful making judgments based on JPGs. I want to see RAW images and for that matter RAWs from the 1D X and D800.

Not impressed.

You're lucky. Some of us had to click the link and wait for the file to download before we could make our conclusions.

And they look pretty darn good. Anxiously waiting for 3rd party samples, but so far it's looking like the new 5D is going to be playing in some rarified air.

I personally am on way way to preorder disorder as soon as i list my mint Canon 5D MKI and a mint 85mm 1.8,32gb card, and lord knows what, in order to raise the missing funds, im thinking to start at 1300 and ship worldwide, my camera is very well taken cared of!

Lol, thanks! While more megapixels would have been a nice touch at this price, I have no reason to believe that this is going to be a failure. When they said they took the AF system right out of the 1DX and put it in the 5D III, I was shocked. Aside from weather sealing, what is the 1D series known for? SUPER AWESOME AUTO FOCUS. Well, here you have it at half the price.

A ton of people in this thread already have...

Whilst comparing invoice numbers, seems like there are a couple hundred between each order. This thing is flying off the shelves.
