I have noticed in DPP that all RAW files are improved by applying no noise reduction, really, set NR to 0 and 0 then apply it....
Lets wait for the RAW crops before buying it.

I've been waiting for a 5D for ages and didn't feel the 5D II was right for me. 2 Stops better than the 5D II w/ good AF & FPS is more than enough reason for me to jump. Disappointing though the overwhelming response is negative. Any time a new release happens, negative comments come out like crazy. If you head over to the Nikon forums, they're screaming mad about the D800.

Looks like an amazing body to me, but, then, I still love my 5DmkII (I must be a fool) The 5D2 was great because it had a real and major IQ benefit over its rivals, plus it was video-capable (good for some people) whereas its rival wasn't. The poor AF, poor weather sealing, etc. were all tolerable for those of us who were seeking the best IQ possible at the time. Many of us were MF film shooters, and the 5D2 finally got us to put away those bodies for good (since it outresolved most sizes of MF colour film).

Mar 02, 2012 10:01 | #853 umphotography wrote in post #14006731 Going to be very interesting to see real world raw file shots with this camera. Looks like plus' and advantages to me. AF system look great, dual cards is a must have, LCD is impressive, lay out and everything about it looks awesome I think DP review said it best Completely new camera with a big brother AF system borrowed from the 1Dx and 7D features incorporated in as well. After looking at all the images they posted its pretty obvious a lot of noise has been applied to the 3200 and up files. So lots of red flags have been raised. Lots of questions about IQ as well after looking at the 100% examples. They look frighteningly similar to the 7D IQ at 100% which i hated. Not going to buy into the krap of your looking at it more than 100% arguments because of pixel density arguments. The IQ better look great on a 100% crop or they can keep this thing. So yeah, Im a little concerned about the images shown and will be in the waiting to see corner on this update. Price is too high at this point but again, waiting to see real world test and results. I'm gonna wait and see what the real story is because you really cant tell for now. Maureen your dead bang on the $$$$$. I think it will drop in price in the next 6 months. If the real world test on raw files show it to be a step towards 7D IQ v/s 1Dx IQ,,, i think canon will have serious problems with the update. The AF system is an about time for me but they need to keep the image quality that the 5D series has been famous for intact. If that is changed and it goes 7Dish......they wont sell. The examples they have shown really have me concerned. I agree with Ken as well. They have watered down this update so it does not take away from 1Dx sales. Its a little bit of this and a little bit of that camera update,,,,,,nothing ground breaking that i can see. Nikon went with MP's for the wow factor. I'm not so sure what canon has decided to do to the 5D3 is going to sway experienced photographers. Right now it does nothing for me SO ITS A WAIT and SEE for ME Personally, from what i have seen, and not because I bought one either. BUT, the 1DMKIV blows the 5D3 update out of the water. For the price that canon is asking, i think you would be nuts to purchase a 5D3 when you can get a 1DMKIV. By the time you grip a 5D3 your close to a 1DMKIV territory, you don't have AF limitations, you have better iso performance with the MKIV,,its just a much smarter decision for a professional for purchase than a 5D3. I think canon is in touchy territory with this update. Looks to me that they are saying loud and clear....If you want 1D features,,,your going to pay for it. And the mid range cameras are going to be nothing but teasers in my opinion. My advise--- wait and get real world results before buying this camera. The images they have shown raised red flags for me. I would be looking for a clean low count 1DMKIV or even a new one before i bought this camera. From what i see, and the real world tests are not in, I will save for a 1Dx upgrade for my next full frame camera before I would consider a purchase with this update. I'm going to go take some pictures........its been a fun couple of days and last night was a blast with all you guys. Schools out on this update. Mike,
