Good points. There is NO WAY Canon could please everyone with this camera. If it had more MP, people would complain about it. By keeping the resolution where they were (essentially) people will complain.

The specs on this camera look great to me. Unfortunately, in this crap economy, it is very doubtful that a $3500 camera body will be a reasonable expenditure anytime soon for many of us.

That's exactly it. That was just my rant over the flood of negative remarks. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but undoubtedly some opinions are more valuable than others.

So I guess now we look for the 7D II to step up.

It'll be crippled too, they don't anything to steal sales from the 1Dx.

is the 5DMKIII the new "professional powerhouse"?

"I have to say that Canon have addressed every issue that we had with the 5D Mark II and built a stunningly good camera. The more you handle it, the more you realise that there has been a lot of input from professional photographers into this camera, and if you are a photojournalist or anyone that shoots in that style, this is the perfect camera for you. Obviously it isn’t a speed demon like the 1DX and you have to watch the buffer when shooting dual cards with high ISO in high speed drive mode, but that is to be expected. The camera produces staggeringly good files at all ISO speeds, it focuses quickly and accurately, it is built like a small tank and is as quiet as a church mouse with a Leica if you want it to be. What else do you need from a camera?"

I wonder how many times you will quote this.

Well i did get lucky and predict the right MSRP price within a penny last March 2011 but it dont come with the articulating screen:

https://photography-on-the.net/forum/...&postcount=958

I sold my 5D MKII last fall thinking Canon would release the new model in November but it has finally arrived as alot of folks predicted here in the spring of 2012.

Now just to wait on a few actual user reviews along with pics before hitting the Buy button.:p

Regards, Ron ;)

You think Shadowblade has an agenda against Canon?

He is one of the most talented and experienced Canon shooters I've ever seen. You have no idea what you are talking about. Seriously.

His criticism against the 5D3 is perfectly valid, unlike some fanboys on here (watt100 + others) who pull all their information from their rear.

Fine, then I expect a drawing from him in crayon, that looks as good as the photos from the 5D3.

He has an opinion, and I respect that. But on of of the pages back, he has 4 posts, all with the exact same thing... that we have high NR.. really? You need to post 4 times in the span of a few minutes to tell is that?

Really? 4 times?

that's a ripoff, but i guess someone has to pay for the losses caused by the earthquake.

Is that what's happening?

I think it's funny reading everyone's argument one way or another. Assuming that it does well what the specs entail, which based on previous cameras from Canon we have no reason to think that it won't, why does anyone care what anyone else thinks? Call me foolish, but people really need to start looking at this for what it is: a tool. Is the $3500 price tag too much?

For some it is, for others (including myself), it's worth it for what it offers. So what if Nikon priced theirs lower with more megapixels and weather sealing? The 5D II has more AF and faster FPS. Isn't that what most people complained about in the last model? No one was really complaining about the 22 megapixels until Nikon whipped out 36. So what if these high resolution JPEGs look like watercolors at 100% crop. I don't shoot to take 100% crops. I shoot for what the camera was intended to do, take an entire frame. I shoot in RAW anyway. Of you have the right glass you won't have to worry about cropping to 100% and then trying to make a 40"x60" print. Again, it's a tool. Most of the people on here can't even afford it and don't even shoot professionally.

This is a mutually exclusive camera, so price comparisons to other models really shouldn't be a factor. In proper decision making you should be looking exclusively at what this has to offer and whether or not it's worth it to you.

+2 ...clearly Canon designed this camera without a few of you in mind... too bad...because Nikon didn't design theirs around your input either... get over it. If it fits you then get it, if it doesn't, then there's the other side of the fence. Seriously, if you're not happy, then no matter what you'll find flaws and nickpick it to death. I'm sure that Nikon users will b1tch and moan about the D800 when they start using them in real life too. That's the way it is - for each and every major releases from both sides.

If you're driving a Ford and it performs suck for you and you hate it to death, then do something about it, get a Chevy, get something else.

It's unhealthy :)

What he says is pretty much irelevant.

That guy is one of Canon's ambassadors and on their payroll.
