Fine, then I expect a drawing from him in crayon, that looks as good as the photos from the 5D3.

He has an opinion, and I respect that. But on of of the pages back, he has 4 posts, all with the exact same thing... that we have high NR.. really? You need to post 4 times in the span of a few minutes to tell is that?

you're still on about this...i went to bed, reading your posts complaining about his comments...now i get up and it's one of the first things i read...

get over it...the guys not happy with what came out...he's allowed to say what he thinks, not everyone here are devout canon fanboys...

sorry, but i don't agree. the mkIV is more expensive (5K seems to be the going rate based on google shopping hits, which is substantially higher than 3.5K). and it's got a crop...i don't want a crop. i love the full-frame perspective, and it really works well when using two cameras (i currently use a 5D and 5D2). sounds like the 5D3's AF will as good (and probably better; not sure why you typed 'limitations') than the mIV's, and ISO performance is also in that boat. i don't find your argument persuasive in the least.

You have obviously never had your hands on a 1DMKIV. 8000 iso are very usable on this camera. Every single AF points hits. Its a tad shakey in AI servo in low light but nothing that cant be worked around. No camera is perfect. School is out of this 5D3 for AF performance. MKIV had weather proofing and build quality that puts this 5D3 to bed, Add on a battery grip and your at $4000.00. If you can get a new MKIV they are $4900.00. Used low count MKIV will be at this 5D3 pricepoint with a grip. NO brainer to me.

I too love the look of full frame but the MKIV files are remarkable and look as good, maybe better, no AF restrictions, many plus' over what is being shown. IQ is ISO is what gets the nod ffom me. Have you seen some of the 5D3 files at a 100% crop.....1DMKIV blows them away in terms of IQ and we still cant be sure about noise on the new 5D3. They look like 7d files to me instead of 5D files....Im on the wait and see list and you should be as well........better yet,, test a 1DMKIV before you make statements that are not accurate.

Noise isn't any better from what I can tell, as said before, masses of blur does not = good ISO

Let's all take a step back and chill out. We're starting to attack each other and it's just silly.

I'll be the first to admit that I got a little upset at Shadowblade for constantly pointing out that the D800 is a superior camera. Well, he's just making comparisons, and educated ones at that....so Shadowblade, I apologize. It's not very fair of me to question an opinion that you have every right too.

But in other comments, folks are starting to personally attack each other and it's not right.

Let's all take a step back and enjoy learning about all of the new offerings that Canon and Nikon have given us. I'd rather be talking about photography than just about anything else, so we've got it pretty good.

I'm skipping these unless there is a considerable price drop. Considering the Nikon D800 pricing I don't see how Canon expects to compete.

If you're a pixel peeper, you will always find something not to like in any camera.

The only real issue I have is it's a bit pricey to start out. It will fall though. There will be deals this December I'm sure. I will probably end up getting one.

Let me digress a bit and ask about some other things posted in the links I saw at canon rumors this morning.
As for the 5D2, it appears that it is a gem of a camera, yes/ no?
I do have one and some nice L glass asI well.
Also have a couple T2i's.

Also please look on the link that showed a poll of Nikon users wanting 36 mp or 16I and they overwhelming vote was for less.
Interesting.

As for price, the Yen has declined about 40% in the last year so between that and the earthquake, one needs to see the economics.

But all in all, the mk 2 with it's old AF system is a great camera.

Absolutely, you can get stunning stuff out of it and it's not like it suddenly got worse.

I agree 100% since it should hopefully drop a few hundred within a month or so.

With the price increases that Canon has placed on the recent lens releases i assumed this 5D MKIII would be over 3K for the body only.

Still alot cheaper then the new 1D and a body with the features that should satisfy most folks for quite a few years out.

What economics do you have to support that? When has a camera ever "dropped a few hundred in a month or so". The standard supply and demand curve charges early adopters the premium for new technology, and then as the R&D costs are recovered they lower their price so the "average consumer" in the given market could pick one up. I find it hard to believe that Canon would be this stupid and supplant to your false claims of its price elasticity.

True enough. Everyone seems up in arms that they didn't get the best camera in the world in the new 5D lol.

The nikon may be ahead of the game a bit, but really, that's been the case for a few years.

a number of posts here are hilariously sad...
Some has a hard-on for Nikon whereas others for Canon, trying to justify their brand because they had invested tens of thousands in their photography equipment.

Bicker all you want, do you really think your photos will look that much different in a real world scenario whether it be a d800 or 5d3, let alone d700 or 5d2? Do we not get great pictures already with existing gears available?

The reason why there are multiple imaging companies out there is because they all produce great products. The market dictates if a product line is a success or a failure. You can argue d800 is better than 5d3 or vice versa all you want with limited specs online and artificially bias samples from both sides. But what it comes down to is that both Nikon and Canon make a great product respectively, enough so to have a healthy customer base from both sides. Considering the history of past number of decades I have no reason to doubt that it will continue.

Can't we all just look forward to have our hands on these cameras OURSELVES and see which one YOU like best? There's really no benefit convincing people that one is better than the other. If anything a monopoly in Canon or Nikon will actually hurt us as consumers.

The 1D4 isn't full frame so its not a competitor

Yeah, no ideal why they put whooping 1 more MP than the 5D2...might as well leave it at 21MP
They could bump it to 24MP and make the spec looks better for the MP crowds

It's a completely different sensor, so keeping it at 21 would been completely arbitrary as it was a complete redesign anyway. I think 22 is just where it landed in the balance of IQ & size.
