Personally I think the 5D3 should be $500 less than the D800...

I bet you also think Nikon glass is more expensive than all Canon glass as well. At least that's common internet regurgitation for people without experience in the Nikon world.

The refurbished tilt shift alone was over $500 more expensive than the brand new canon 45mm Canon version. Along with no 50 f/1.2?

Yeah, with genius reasoning like that - which I cut out so people didn't have to see it all again, because their heads might explode - I can see how that works. Screw the reality, let's just count megapixels, and see how many we can cram onto a chip.

YAY MEGAPIXELS!!!!!!

Exactly which part of my post (you know, the one you selectively edited) made the claim that it was all about megapixels?

Which part of that post ran counter to reality?

Perhaps there was a little hyperbole there and you're right that everyone has a right to make their own decisions (about cameras and mental health both), but please point out which of Canon's advantage(s) is worth $500?

7D cross-type is not nearly as impressive compares to D700 non-cross type

C'mon get serious here. It's very easy to make the D700 outer point hunts :).

I didn't say that. I did a lens for lens comparison to see what it would cost for me to switch a few months back and it was in fact more expensive, and they don't have an AF 50 f/1.2, which is my bread and butter for weddings. You have no idea what I know, so don't make assumptions.

but Nikon glass is clearly inferior so why make a comparison....right?

If I had a need for high IQ, low light, full frame, it would be my choice!

and the Canon 28-300L cost more than double compared to the Nikon 28-300G.
