Who's Pre-Ordering the 5D MKIII?

You are absolutely right, it truly works on every level. I have even heard two hard and fast Nikon users say they would sell their gear to get one!

Guess I am done with this thread! My 5D III just arrived from Crutchfield. Had an unboxing/demo in front of my staff and I think there will be about 10 more orders going in- everyone was blown away with this camera. And the shutter clicking away at 6 frames/second is a very sweet sound!

I am so frustrated with B&H. I can get no information from them. I have spent over $50k with them over the years. I will not be doing business with them again after this experience with the 5DIII. It is irresponsible to hide behind the "we don't know when more are coming" BS when other retailers can tell me exactly when they are getting cameras this week.

No offense but it doesn't matter how much you have spent with them, it was first come first serve. When did you place your order? I placed mine about 20-30 minutes after it was announced and it is scheduled to arrive today. Also, they do know they are getting some in but they don't know how many or how many will be body only or kit package. Don't blame B&H, blame Canon for not sending them more inventory; especially considering they are one of the largest retailers. Also the reason they don't hand out more info is because they don't have it, can you imagine how mad you would be if they said you were in the next shipment only to find out Canon didn't send enough of the package you ordered? Maybe inquire with other stores to see if you can get one right away but to say you "will not be doing business with them again after this experience" is a bit hasty.

I am sorry for your frustration and certainly appreciate your eagerness. We received and shipped a batch of EOS 5DMkIII bodies and body+lens kits last Thursday. Canon USA told us to expect another batch this week. Right now I don't know what day and I don't know how many. If I did I would not be permitted to say.

I know many here are under the misapprehension we know exactly when and exactly how many each batch will bring. Sadly this is not the situation and I'd be remiss if I said otherwise. Likewise I think we'd be wrong to offer false hope or overoptimistic predictions in an effort to placate your desire for immediate delivery. I hate having to say, "I don't know," but I rather do so honestly than string someone along.

I've noticed the "eagerness" too, but in defense, it may be that many people have already sold other cameras to help fund the 5dmk3. So, there might be a good reason that they need another camera right away, other than just not being able to wait. I hope I'm not reaching too far on that..... lol

Just pre ordered through Crutchfield. No order confirmation yet...

I just received an email from Amazon that they will deliver a 5D-III body only on Fri. 3/30 which was on order since 3/2AM.

Waiting on a call from Penn Camera... They expect a shipment in today or tomorrow and I'm next on the list.

Ring, phone. Ring!

Mine just arrived at home! Can't wait till 5pm.

I spoke with B&H this morning. My body-only order placed 9AM EST on 3/2 was due to ship after they receive a new batch on April 2nd.

BestBuy.com had it available online for pick-up in my local store today. I'm waiting for order confirmation so I can cancel my B&H pre-order.

So you missed out on the Beach Camera deal? Ah well.

I find it rather ironic that all these people are having issues with the major retailers. I was originally going to wait to get the 5D3 but decided the last minute I wanted one. I got one from Abes of Maine ($15 off + 2% Mr. Rebates and no NY Tax), and I was also on pre-order lists with Midwest Photo and Norman Camera for all but 2 days before they called me to let me know my camera was ready for shipping.

Ah well. Such is life.

That makes sense. First week, X amount of cameras are available. Demand is 2X or 3X. 1X people will be very happy because they got their camera, but 1X/2X people will not be happy because they didn't. Couple that with the large store where most people would place their orders. Smaller shops will have fewer pre-orders.

Canceled my b&h pre-order for the body, and ordered the kit from them. It shipped today. I am pumped. Had planned on buying the 17-40 soon for landscapes, just going to use the 24-105 for that until I get the money to sell it, or keep it and get the 17-40 as well.

I am pumped, got the shipping confirmation and it should be here tomorrow.

Pre ordered on Crutchfield. Now I wait...
