I read that Adorama started processing for shipment during the night.

Amazon processes shipments around the clock.

Is it possible that B&H and Amazon had the largest orders so Canon simply loaded their trucks last? If Canon shipped in order of smallest orders to largest, that would explain why all the mom and pops got them first, then Adorama, B&H, and Amazon.

The reality is Canon can only ship them out so fast, so they have to decide whether they want to cast a large net first and get them in the hands of a bunch of retailers right away, or, fulfill the largest retailers first and make everyone else wait.

Just spoke to Adorama. They only have 5DIII kits left. No body only left in stock. Still waiting to hear from Amazon in my almost immediate preorder.

My number is 641xx (3/02 order) .... and so far, the numbers being shipped are only in the 5xxxx range - So unless B&H actually got 1,000 delivered to them, looks like a bunch of us will have to wait for another delivery. Crosses fingers.

I ordered from B&H early on 3/2, my order number is way before yours, and I'm still backordered. Sucks.

It just seems like B&H and Amazon could have done a better job with keeping the customers updated on the status.

You're basing that statement off the assumption that Canon kept B&H and Amazon updated with their status, and we have absolutely no way of knowing whether or not that happened. All we know is that Adorama received them, then shipped them. Then B&H received theirs, and shipped theirs. Sounds like Adorama just got luckier than B&H.

For what it's worth my body-only Amazon order made Mar 2nd is now showing Shipping Soon. No credit card charge showing yet, no email yet - so we shall see if this is any reason to get excited.

Yeah that's what I heard and went for the kit.

Is this kit lens any good?
I've never owned anything smaller than f2.8.
I have no prob trying to sell it for $800, but if it's good I might keep.

Yeah, I have not seen my card hit yet either. They have historically great customer service, so hopefully it is here in the next day or so.

The 24-105 is a great lens I loved mine when I had one, sold it when I got a 24-70 to keep my wife happy. But if I can't sell the one I got today with my 5D3 I won't be dissapointed :)

I got an email on Sunday 3-18 informing me that my order was still backordered and would ship as soon as it came in, did you get that email? You can also log into your account on their website and see your status... what more do you want/expect?

Hmmm, something weird is going on with my order with Adorama, shipping label was printed yesterday (order marked as shipped), but UPS still haven't heard about it, showing that they acknowledge the label, but haven't seen the package yet. :(

24-105 is solid for a 4.0 zoom. Too small an aperture for what I shoot, but they go from $750-$900 used online, so if you do not like it, you are not likely to lose anything.

Within the last 10 minutes Amazon has flipped their status to in stock, 1 available shipping from an Amazon retailer. I had it in my cart and almost pulled the trigger, but since I already have free overnight shipping I'll just take this as a good sign that mine will be shipping soon. Although my status hasn't changed.

Exactly. On 3/18 you could have logged into your account on Adorama, B&H, or Amazon and seen a backordered status and that it would ship as soon as it came in. I don't understand your point.
