We all know the excitement of adding new species to our photo "life lists" and I have been able to add 3 in the last week or so. If you include gender differences the count goes to 4!
Some of these may surprise you as I have had a devil of a time w/some of the more common birds in my area. These are somewhat hurriedly edited due to time constraints, but I think quite worthy of posting.
I hope you enjoy a little Friday morning variety....

American Robin - who has played tough to get and is teasing my here.....
1.

.....and finally gave me the clearest shot I've had so far, albeit against a tough sky background.
2.

Eastern Phoebe - very excited to nab this one even sitting on the hummingbird feeder arm.
3.
IMAGE: http://i407.photobucket.com/albums/pp154/vroompuppy/Avian%20Friends/IMG_1512b_1024x700.jpg

Eastern Towhee (female) - I hear these all over, but it's tough to get them out of the bushes.
4.

5.

Dark-eyed Junco (female) - this is the gender addition since I have already brought you the male DEJ.
6.

And an update on a recent first - the female Yellow-bellied Sapsucker has returned after a cold snap, but is proving to be quite coy w/me as you can see.

I'm glad to have the opportunity to add these to my list and to bring them to you as well. I hope you've found the variety enjoyable and feel free to comment as much as you want! Thanks for looking in on me......

Good for you, Steve, new firsts and all great shots. The Towhee in particular attracted my eye, a bird I have never seen. Wonderful shots!

Beautiful series Steve. I had wondered where the Robins were this winter. They're up in Georgia. Well done.

Great captures Steve and congrats! I love the Towhee very nice. Robins are very common up here in the spring and summer but I don't think I have ever taken a pic...Need to put that on the list. That Sapsucker is just giving you a little peek! lol All nicely done. :)

Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has to still see some 'common birds' for the first time! This is very encouraging, Steve. And you did so well. Yes, maybe an unfortunate background here, a touch of blown whites there, but does that matter much when they're firsts? I think not. And they are very good. All of them. But, the two images of the female Eastern Towhee are excellent in every way, firsts or not. Big congrats on these firsts, Steve, as well on the quality of them.

I admire the varieties you have there Steve. You never short of subjects to shoot eh. Good for ya. :D
All excellent captures but gotta say Lady Towhee is my fav here. Phoebe is a tricky one with the dark head area with light chest. I'm sure it'll be back (they are very nosy bird ). Oh, really like how you frame the last one where the Supsucker aligned with the perch, in diagonal fashion. ;)
