I've posted some pictures and would have loved to have gotten feed back. Is this a buddy buddy website? I want to get better and I felt that people on here would be courteous enough to say something. I'm to the point that why even post pics if all members do is look and not comment. If your in the Critique center, don't just look at it. Make a comment. I hate it when I see my pictures has 30 hits but no comments. If your on the website and wanting to look at pics, stay away from the critique unless you can give advice. I have another picture thats in the macro section, here again 20 some hits and not one comment. REALLY. Tell me its ugly.

This is the nature of the Interwebs and short attention spans. How do you think Amazon feels when I go to their web site, click Today's Deals, look at for 10 seconds and then close my browser without buying anything? :)

If you want to get better, keep practicing. Take a class. Read other critiques. Now there's an idea!!

Hi Mike - as Cactus said, it's unfortunately a lot about speed and short attention spans with some folks. What is the link to your post? - Stu

ps - Found it and posted.

I think with photo critique if the photo is nothing amazing but nothing obvious that's 'bad' about it, you know neither here nor there it will fly under the radar.

From what I've seen photo's with obvious flaws will get comments & images that are really good will naturally attract attention too.

I agree and am probably guilty myself. Several times I have looked at someones photo and didn't leave any comment, not because I am lazy or don't care, it is because I thought it was a decent photo, but nothing jumped out at me as being either really good or really bad. And I am not one to leave a meaningless comment if I can't say something useful or constructive.

I have no where near the experience as some on here so I don't readilly pick up on the little things like white balance or over-saturation. I have seen pictures that I thought were rather nice, but the more experienced people have pointed out things that I didn't notice. It is (and has been) a learning experience for me as well, as now I am looking at picture with a different outlook and can see what they are talking about when they do point out different issues. It helps me with my own photography as well.

Sometimes I walk around my town with a shirt on that reads "Criticize Me!!"

Some days no one tells me about my features or my flaws and I think, "Wtf? Am I invisible?"

And then I realize, I AM.

So we should post one image that is immensely ugly just to get people to stay - and then hopefully get a comment or two about another photo at the same time ;)

I don't understand what the problem is. You have 114 post and you've started 54 new threads. For one, it seems you don't post much in your own threads. Of your 54 threads, 2 of them have no replies which I don't think is that big of a deal especially since they are both from well over a month ago and one is well into last year. You could always bump your own thread once to see if you can get a hit. Obviously what pissed you off was that thread in the Macro section. You posted a pic and no one commented within 12 hours so you got pissed and decided to make a thread about it. Have a little patience, this is the internet and people are lazy.

Mike, I have a certain expectation - and maybe it's just me - that when image critique is made, it ideally should become a "conversation" if there is to be a positive, constructive "take away.

A couple of folks have now made comments on at least one of your images with at least a couple of questions. You seemed slightly impatient to solicit critique, but now the shoe is on the other foot :D. POTN is a two-way conversational street when it is at its best. ;)

I don't think everyone on here feels competent to leave useful feedback so they don't , and then there are those who do but shouldnt, most importantly learn to critique yourself, and always push for improvement (sounds like you are wanting this), and to hell with what others think, if you and your clients like them you are golden.

I do feel better about getting that off my chest. I am a little impatient and I apologize. I am glad others feel the same way.
