Right on the parking lot! Ouch. It didn't sound good. And now makes clicks when focusing. And the inner ring doesn't sit flush. Are these repairable? Are they even worth it? I paid $80 for it used here on POTN. Just chalk it up as a loss?

Clearly people this day and age don't value money as much as I do OP, you can fix it, gently squeeze the protruding inner ring section back into place with gentle, but firm, and increasing pressure, until it pops back into place I have had it come apart into 2 pieces and fixed (but needed superglue) Woohoo. It popped back in. Works perfectly. Shots had a weird blurry/haze to them at f/1.8 especially. Now, good as new! Crisp and no clicks!! Thanks!

Mar 03, 2012 10:32 | #15 Great job! My D.I.L. dropped her nifty fifty (twice!) Camera shop said not repairable, so I had nothing to lose by playing with it. Ended up reading the dissassembly for the wrong (older version) lens. Tried to unscrew it and it popped, then focussed freely again, good as new.
