So does anyone know when the BG-E11 will be available? I originally thought the BG-E6 would work with the new 5D Mk III so I pre-ordered the body. I'm now hearing that I will need the new BG-E11 at $490 dollars. So how does this grip improve my picture quality such that its almost double the BG-E6 grip I already own?

So I went to the B&H site to add it to my pre-order but there is no availability date.
So how can I buy a partial system. I've used the grip on all my DLSR since the XTi. Also, I'm realizing that I don't know when I can get an L-bracket from Kirk or even RRS.

So if I sell my 7D w/Grip and 5D MkII w/ Grip and by the 5D MkIII I can't use a tripod effectively and loose the comfort of the grip when taking portrait mode.

I guess I will have to wait until the whole system is in place. Maybe I should look at upgrading to a 1D Mk IV instead.

Its not a question of patience. I'd just like to know that release date like the body. If it will come out at the same time I will leave my pre-order in. If its delayed a quarter or two I can wait on the 5D MkIII.
In reality the need for an Kirk or RRS Arca Swiss tripod bracket is probably more important. I could do without the grip but then I would have to buy a bracket for the body only and then the body + grip which which I would rather not do.

Well I was doing a little more research. Nikon's list price for the MB-D12 grip for the new D800 list out at $616 by Nikon. B&H is offering it pre-ordered at $449. So Canon and Nikon are both trying to get back their development money real quick on these products. Also, Kirk has a pre-order of the Nikon brackets for the new D800 and D4 but nothing for new Canon D1X or 5D MkIII. I sent them a e-mail inquiry on when to expect the Canon's. I'll post their responce.

The official Canon press release that was published Friday says the grip will be available at the end of April for $490 MSRP.
