Can 5D Mark III be used to shoot sports ?

It's not the amount of shots in a burst that's important,it's the action caught in between the shots.

I work for a company that shoots road races like 5k's, marathons, etc., and they want us to shoot burst, but in the "low speed" mode. I have a 1D4 and a 7D, and I have them set to low, so I would assume the 5D3 would be fine, at least for what I do. I just can't justify the price and features. I am fine with what I have.. :)

Depends on the type of sports and how many keepers you need. You have to define the "NEED" part. If you want to try to capture as many players as possible in a single play, 6fps is just OK. Depending on what sorts of sport leagues. Pro players would "play" faster than beginners.

And how many shots too...:) If I need to capture as many players as possible because I can sell the photos to the players and parents, I would be damn pissed if a 1dmarkIII can give me 2x the keepers than the 5dmark3.
