I plan to upgrade and was just wonder about the price pattern of new release bodies, do they usually trend up or down in price after a few months.
Thanks.

Even around xmas. You might see some stores doing a boxing day sale or a black friday, but I doubt any of it will be sanctioned by Canon. My Flickr

I am wondering, how do you differentiate a camera for which refurb or original in the store? just in case the store is trying to play tricky with the buyer. Happy to shopt regardles...

kfreels Goldmember 4,297 posts Likes: 11 Joined Aug 2010 Location: Princeton, IN More info | Most stores don't sell refurbs. A certain percentage come off the assembly line bad. Bad cameras get sent back to Canon and the store gets a replacement. The bad camera is repaired by Canon and sold on their canon direct site. Some vendors have the ability to buy Canon refurbs for resale but they have to be authorized to do so. Only reputable vendors can do this and they clearly mark them as refurbs. The boxes are plain vs the attractive shelving packaging on regular new retail units. As each camera has a serial number and refurbs carry a different warranty, this shouldn't happen. A new camera comes in a new box with a new warranty. A refurb comes in a refurb box with a refurb warranty. The only way I can see this happening is an unscrupulous online vendor buying refurbs and selling them as "new". But then as soon as you receive it, you would still have a refurb box (unless they somehow made their own boxes to match the new retail box which would be way too much work for what its worth) and even then, when you registered your serial with Canon for the warranty it would pop up yet again as a refurb. I am serious....and don't call me Shirley.

Cheers Just buy from a reputable store and you'll eliminate this issue.

In other words, just make sure you buy from a reputable vendor like Amazon, Adorama, B&H, etc and not ebay and if you buy new, make sure you don't get a plain white box. well explained. thanks ---Babak
