hi all.

ive been borrrowing my GFs camera and lost the lens cap. It didnt have a strap on it. I cant figure out how to get a new one its quantay 70-300. I cant really even find a lot about quantaray on the internet. A little help is really appreciated. I would need the proper size lens cap replacement. If you dont know a way to find the specs, is there a way to meaure it, such as with the Outside diameter? Its around 65mm for the lens zoom housing, not the actual lens.

Also, Id like to get a new camera, something wiht some really great zoom for birding.. Something with better zoom and than the 70-300 quantaray. Anyone have any advice. The quantaray has 1-16.5 label on the zoom which I assume means it has zoom of 16.5x. What can i get with more zoom.

Quantaray is a third party brand sold in stores like Ritz Camera. They take Tamron or Sigma lenses and rebrand them as their own. A quick search shows that it probably takes a 62mm lens cap. Without a picture or details about the lens, that's a guess. You can look around the front of the lens for a filter size. Sometimes it's listed. If the lens has a filter on it right now, that would also be the correct size for a lens cap. If you want to measure it, measure the very front of the barrel, where the lens cap attaches. Almost any brand will work, but maybe you don't want her to know you lost it.
