hi all, i hope i'm posting in the right place. this is a 2 part question, to prevent myself from double posting.

currently i'm running my website through godaddy and using a template from bludomain. in order to run that, they told me i needed a linux server, which godaddy did.

anyhow, that site is several years old now and i'm looking to change a new site. i read around here that themeforest (wordpress) type of site is very easy to configure and maintain. my question is, does it require a specific type of server from godaddy?

secondly, i thought about getting one of those pogo-plug to act as a server to host my own website. afterall, it's just going to be a site for my photos and such, so i doubt i'm going to get 1 million hits.

anyone does that to save cost on hosting?

Wordpress is not operating system specific. So it doesn't matter what OS your web host runs just as long as they support PHP/MySQL. So if your ThemeForest template is for Wordpress, it will work just as long as your web host can run wordpress. (Unless the template itself says it is for some reason not compatible on a certain OS but I've never seen this.)

As for pogo-plug, I've never heard of this before but googling it shows me that it's a cloud storage service and not a web hosting service. There is a significant difference between the two types of services.

Right, so it's a cloud-based file hosting service that basically does storage of static files like a photo or a HTML file that a browser can "translate" and show on the client-side.

On the other hand, Wordpress is powered by PHP which is a server-side scripting language so the processing needs to be done by the server. I don't think pogoplug can host wordpress.
