Hi all, I'm planning to get the 1DX but am a bit unsure about the 18mp resolution. What do you guys think? Thanks for the inputs.

Save some money and grab a 1Ds3 or 5D3. You can't go wrong with either, just depends on what you want. I am strongly considering move from the 1Ds3 to the 5D3 myself if the new 5D has fully resolved the shadow banding issues of it's predecessor

I am planning on the 1DX for myself. The 1DX will be a great landscape camera. (If price is a concern, look at the 5D3 instead).

People have been using less than 18mp for years for landscapes it will be fine as long as you don't crop heavily birders will be the hardest hit by this camera.

Full-frame cameras are perfect for landscape photography and the 1DX is an awesome fullframe camera. If money were no object I'd be strongly tempted to get one. If your primary camera use is landscapes, I would go with the 5D III and use the extra money to buy one or two of the best lenses available for landscapes (TS-E 24mm II or Zeiss 21mm ZE are two of the better choices if you don't already have one of them).

I think the 18MP resolution will be more than sufficient. One thing I consider for landscape photography is the size/weight of the gear I'm lugging around. For me, the added grip of the 1D series always made for a little less room in an already packed gear bag, especially when I'm out hiking to get that perfect photo.

I'd wait and consider some reviews of both the 5d3 and the 1dx before making any final decision.

I think it will be great for landscapes. Full frame sensor and 18 mp's. Plus it has plenty of fps for the nature shooter to capture birds in flight. Perfect camera for the Nature and Landscape photographer if you ask me.

I use a Kodak Brownie

Why are you unsure about 18 megapixels?
