This is my only photo of a Ruby Crowned Kinglet. It was taken mid October of this year when they came through at Petrie Island. Amazingly small ( 1/2 to 1cm longer than a Ruby Throated Hummer) and they just don't stop moving, This one did for a fraction. I would very much like to get another opportunity on this one. Especially with the crown showing red which occurs when they get excited. Canon 200mm F2.8L and 1.4X

Nice shot! I love that little bird. Even though you can get very close to them, they're hard to photograph as they are constantly moving as you said. I did manage to get a shot of one showing red so I was happy, despite the bad lighting.

An excellent picture of that mite of a bird......not quite clear how to get them unless one shoots continuously and hopes for the best.

I saw one last week in full sun light with the crest showing, wow!! It lasted about a millisecond, before I could even think of shooting it was gone.

Yes, obviously the same family as our Goldcest and Firecrest...although the head colours are very noticeable on our two.
You did brilliantly to get this. very well done indeed.

I enjoyed photographing these little ones this fall...fun chalenge for sure! You got yourself a nice one here. I like the way its head is slightly tilted upwards as if looking for the next branch to hop on.
