Lets say you have taken an absolutely stunning scenery picture. Good, right?
But what if you had to cram yourself into a small space, and in doing so, did not level your picture correctly, and now the mill you were trying to photograph looks like it has been hit by an earthquake? What software would you you use to straighten it?

(Interested because I recently came upon a photo in which I had to cram myself into a small spot to try to photograph a mill... What a coincidence!  )

Thanks for the help!

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

You want to simply just level horizon? Lightroom 4 has an amazing feature where you can rotate the whole photo, or draw a line whether the horizon or level is, and it does it for you that way! Photoshop also has a tool for this but not familiar with it myself.

Any post processing software can straighten a photo...

DPP is free and should have come with your camera (assuming you shoot Canon).

Lightroom, Photoshop, GIMP....take your pick!

Hmmm, I have Photoshop Elements (Although Its not installed yet) , DPP, and GIMP... maybe I should do something really unheard of... like actually read the manuals!

Or, If someone would want to tell me here, I would be very grateful! Ive been wanting to know how for a long time, but never read about it!

DPP is Tools --> Start Trimming/Angle Adjustment Tool.

Can't think of the command in Lightroom off the top of my head but the keyboard shortcut is 'R'.

Here is one of the shots, tweaked contrast, light, and sharpness, so not SOOC.
I'm not sure I'd pick it as the best of the bunch, but...

Maybe... I can move it. Was just showing what I was working with. This is after my pathetic attempts to level it.

Shouldn't that be in a "sharing" thread?

You are allowed to put pictures here if it helps you with your question.

I get that, but it looks pretty straight, and I didn't see a question

Looks like the op was just showing their accomplishment after straightening then :)

Actually, I thought it was leaning right.... Did you notice that as well, or is it just me?
Either way, thanks for the help, I learned something new today!

Straightening is simple in Elements. Straighten and crop the resulting dead areas in one move. Mission accomplished.
