Did something I've been wanting to do forever, all-nighter in South Beach, Florida with my 5d. Except I did it with a group of cyclists, www.freakbikenation.com (external link) we make choppers and customs from crappy Wal-Mart bikes and dumpster scores. Once a year we do an all-nighter pub-crawl in South Beach, near Miami, Florida.

My setup for the night was a Canon 5d Mark I, 24-105 f4L IS, and an old 540ez flash unit set in manual mode. I used this almost entirely for the night with the exception of the time lapse shots where I used the 20-35 f3.5-4.5 USM and 70-200 f4L IS in a couple shots. I also carried a bookbag full of glass, a full-size tripod on my handlebars, of a racing bicycle (bad idea but it worked) and two 35mm EOS film bodies

But I have confirmed something I've said forever, that the 24-105L is a great walk-around lens for full frame. 95% of these were shot on it.

My ride in, roughly 6pm here, transferring to the Metro Rail. I have a habit of arriving late for bike rides, this was no exception. 7 hours late.....intentionally, so I could survive the night and make it 3 hours north in the morning.

If you're in Wet Willies.....GET ONE, just don't drink it fast unless you want an epic brain freeze. 10pm

Can't remember the name of this diner but I remember my biggest tab for the night, 17 dollars, and I didn't even drink here (but a damn good sammich) I'm going to guess 11th St. Diner by the coffee mug. 4am

Would be almost 4:30 - 5am here, I split off from the main group to go cross off a few bucket list items. Everything now closes at 4 apparently, last time I attempted an all-nighter I made it to 6am and bars were just starting to let out. I remember this time of night two years ago Ocean Dr. was a duPont Registry parking lot.

These are all time-lapses with the Canon 5d. I rode around with a tripod on the handlebars of a 1986 Tommaso race bicycle for the entire day/night, only to use it for an hour, but it was well worth it.

Not sure which of these two I liked better. The color on the second one is better but the first doesn't have the bridge in the foreground....whoops

6am, just before sunrise. To the left of me a Carnival cruise ship is docking. Must have not had an Italian captain in this one.
