One hint, it looks like to focal point on #1 is the center of the guitar and on #2 the bell of the trombone leaving the faces a bit soft. Suggesting the focal point be the faces and let the rest fall in and out of focal range for a more natural appearance. "When I shoot something I use a Canon!"

It's not even limited focus points. In low light, AF in general is hungry for anything with contrast. Steel mesh mic covers are the worst culprits. -Matt
