Post Your Best "Local Band" Shots

Nice shots. I'm curious what kind of music this is. I see a banjo with a bunch of electric guitars. I don't know of anything like that except Bela Fleck.

Probably shoudn't be in the thread as it's not my "best" gig shot.

I now rarely take the dslr to gigs when I'm go to see the band and just use the crappy camera on my phone, but here is one from the last gig I was at, The Anynumbers at Night People in Manchester UK,

It was an industry showcase in Orlando at a hotel. Trade people only- booking agents, etc. Made it easy for me to move around the stage. The lighting had its moments but was rather dark much of the time. Thanks.

Hey BW

Two local shows over Thanksgiving weekend. My wife's band (again) and a local favorite and good friends of mine, The String Assassins. Here's a sample of both. My wife is on keys and mandolin in the first three in her leopard pattern pants. BTW last night I attended a lecture and extensive photo show by Jay Blakesberg, "40 years of photographing the Grateful Dead" and tons of other folks. He's great and funny as heck!

Wow Ed, this looks like one fantastic event! Both bands must have been fabulous to see live. I see Jay at many of the music festivals in this region, he is a great person and a fantastic photographer. He is always polite and usually helpful with advice and comments. Where was the show with Jay? I didn't realize he made it to the east coast too often.

He had tons of photos for sale (too expensive for me) and gave a 2 hour lecture slide show that was hilarious, then he had Oteil Burbridge for a Q&A and interview. It was great. I have met Oteil before so it was great to say hi again. I took a bass class with him last year. Oteil lives locally so we were lucky to have him for this particular lecture. He is an awesomely cool guy and loads of fun to listen to.

This one was at a JCC in Davie, FL but he has been all over doing these. It was PACKED with deadheads, hundreds of people, SRO. Check Jay's FB page. Jay's entire extended family was at this one as they all live locally here in South Florida.

Jay is a friend, I've had the pleasure of photographing with him a couple of times and he helped me out bigtime once. I agree his presentation is great - full of stories and funny anecdotes, and Jay is not shy at all. Very inspiring.
