Re-take on a shot I C+C'ed earlier. Ghosts were in the background of the last shot, and on this one too, but this was the last shot my flash got out before the batteries died and sure enough there was a ghost, but not anything a clone tool can't remove ;)

Damn, was hoping to see a '70. Guess I will just have to go look at the one in my garage. But it's not pretty like that '69.

Due to a later than normal production start for the "real" 70's GM did market some 69's as 70's but to the best of my knowledge governments forced them to be licensed as 69's because they were identical except for (going from memory here) the wheels. Thus the designation of 70 1/2 for the new body style.

70-73 look like this (The Rally Sport option) which is a 1 owner 73 Z-28. The 70 used the low 1 piece rear spoiler like the 67-69's but many have been fitted with the more readily available 3 piece spoiler introduced for 71.

I was quite a muscle car enthusiast back then. The '69 as I recall had a long production, not ending till close to the end of '69....which was unusual as usually new year cars came out around Sept.-Oct.

The 70 Camaro was an all new body style and came out in early 1970....kind of late, when compared to how model years came out back then. The Mustang was one of the first cars to come out at an odd time...April in it's case and it was marketed as a 1964 1/2 car. Some were registered as 1964's...some 1965, depending on the jurisdiction.

Think the first '70 1/2 Camaros I saw must of been around Feb- April of 1970.

I have a ' Matchless motorcycle manufactured in London, England in August 1967. It was sent to the states to be sold as a 1967 Matchless. It didn't sell and was later part of a bunch of Matchless new, yet unsold, motorcycles bought by a Canadian dealer and shipped up here.

It was sold in 1969 as a new 1969 motorcycle. According to my provincial registration it is a 1969 motorcycle...but according to it's serial number it was made in August, 1967 and a Matchless expert told me it is really a 1967 model.

What I'm saying is that with some vehicles ...they were classified as the model year, according to when they were sold. I think things and procedures were not as tight in certain jurisdictions, back then....over 40 years ago

I worked on them back when they were new & still do, plus owned one of the rarer ones. Here's what I found on Wikipedia.

The 1969 model year was exceptionally long, extending into November 1969, due to manufacturing problem that delayed the introduction of the second generation model planned for 1970. It is a popular myth late-'69 Camaros were sold as 1970 models (due to GM publicity pictures of the '69 Camaro labeled as a 1970), but they were all assigned 1969 VIN codes.

Yeah, a huge production problem like a labor strike.

Well there must have been a few strikes back then because my friends 73 was ordered in 72 (to be a 72) but never got built until the 73 model year & that was a big let down due to engine performance.
