This must be pileated season. It's funny, they must be around all the time, but in late winter they sure seem to become more noticeable. Good job.

Great shots Shawn, I've just recently learned where our local pileated pair have their nest. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get some shots of them.

Very nice looking young fella you captured there Shawn.
I like them both, but I really like the relaxed posture in the 1st image. I'm not seeing the males in my area right now, only the females. Maybe it'll pick up soon.
