Well, when I knew that the 5D3 would be at focus on imaging I thought there might be a stampede trying to get to it but luckily the show has been on a few days and Tuesday is trade day so after a little wait it was in my hands.

The one I looked over had a 35mm F1.4 attached and it felt a bit more chunky than the 5D2 to the point where it felt fine without a grip whereas the 5D2 and classic always felt a bit narrow to me.

First thing I done was pop it in manual ISO cranked to 25600 get a decent exposure and check for noise, after I took my first accurate exposure the Canon tech showed me a button just above the preview button, press this and it will give you a 100% crop of the focusing point!
Now this my be old news to a few here but I really liked this feature as it saves the press preview then zoom in and navigate to where you focused to check how sharp your image is.
Press this button and bang your there...

After looking through the picture and zooming in on the blacks I could see noise but it looked like fine noise not blocky noise and I would be confident that I could totally clean this out in lightroom 3 and keep most of the detail, also I didn't have time to go through the settings so I don't know if the noise suppression was wound up on the demo body.
The Canon tech seen that I was interested in the noise performance and explained to me that Canon has gone down the route of making a sensor that may produce noise but will be easy to clean up in software.
I then dropped it to 12800 ISO and again a little noise but very fine, I was looking at jet black billboards against white paint and lighting so a big contrast going on there.

The rear screen is awesome and the focusing seemed great but I literately had my hand on it for 2-3 mins as people were wanting there turn..one guy asked if its so good why is a 1DX £2000 more and the Canon tech said "well the pictures from that sensor are just so good that's why"!!

I have now held the 5D3 and confirm I will have one one day.

The camera is just a storage box, it's the gLass in front that makes the image...
