In some aspects, this tree is symbolic as I took the image on Valentines Day...when I met my (present) partner

It was straight from the camera, just cropped down. The orange is due to the awful light pollution in our area as the image was taken at around 10pm (winterish days therefore it was very dark). At 10pm it's dark in bristol, right? I'm not very familiar with the UK. I don't understand how the foreground could be so dark but the sky have color to it. I am rookie though. Thanks for the earlier response, I really appreciate it. Canon 5D3, Canon XTI (IR converted), 24-70 f2.8L, 16-35 f4L, 50 1.4, 70-200 f2.8L, 100 2.8 macro, 430 ex & 580 exII speedlights.

Out in the countryside it will be really dark but looking back towards a city you'll see glow coming from the city lights (light pollution). Long shutter speeds will really pick up on it giving you a dark foreground with a glowing sky. Light pollution is the same reason you can't see stars very well in a city.. Canon 5D mkIII ~ Canon 7D ~ 17-40mm f/4L ~ 24-105mm f/4L IS ~ 70-200mm f/2.8L IS ~ 50mm f/1.8
