And here (external link)

Finally, the Zeiss UWA to complement the Distagon 21, that many of us have been waiting for! Rumoured to be available late May, announcement March 16.

Now, if only they'd make a few UWA tilt-shifts... or even a tilt-shift teleconverter (like what Hasselblad uses) to magnify the image circle and shift within it...

If it's more than $2000, NO THANKS!

If it has a flat front elemt compatible with filters, it'll be a winner.

If not, it will have stiff competiton from the 14-24 and Samyang 14 - particularly if it displays the moustache distortion of the 21.

Excited, but price could be prohibitive.

The second link says it will have a 95mm filter thread. I can only imagine what the filter that size would cost..!

Just attach a holder for the Lee filter system and leave it at that!

I'd like to see how it compares to the Nikon 14-24. After all, that's a spectacular lens which has beaten or equalled just about every prime in it range (including the Zeiss Distagon 18 and every other 14mm lens out there).

For sure. Even the Leica M mount is superb!

The M mount version is a bit disappointing as there is no rangefinder coupling, seems to generate generally positive reviews though despite its shortcomings. Will the ZE mount etc be made by Cosina in Japan or in Germany by Zeiss? That's what will determine the price I'd guess.

On a DSLR, the lens will be focussed via live view anyway, so it won't matter even if the lens has no electronics whatsoever.

And, if live view is included in the M10, then the lack of rangefinder coupling on the Leica version will no longer matter either.

Colour correcton and rangefinder coupling will always matter, even with live view. You are spoiled for choice for good wide angle lenses in M mount so these oversights means it has never been a well loved lens in this mount at least. The Zeiss is interesting in M mount though as it is manufactured in Germany with materials like barium dense flint, fluor crown and as aspherical element with a Leica price tag, so Zeiss went all out on it. Cosina I'd imagine will save money somewhere in materials or labour etc, should still be a nice lens though like the 21mm.

I get the same impression. I've just switched to the D800 and the 14-24mm is my first choice; should make for an amazing combo! Still, I'm excited to see what the 15mm Zeiss looks like. Wondering if they'll manage to add a filter thread on the front or if it will be bulbous like every other ultra-wide lens.

Apparently, it will have a 95mm filter thread, so you will be able to use the regular Lee system filters on it.
