Congratulations :) That sounds a good lens. What do you intend to use it for?

A 1.4x TC would be a lovely accessory for your lens.

The 300f4 IS is a great lens. Here's a closeup shot with one equipped with extension tubes:

There are more 300 f4 shots in the same gallery.

I have the 300f/4 l IS which I use with a Canon 1.4 TC. I used it on a Canon 10D and found the lens with 1.4x converter had to "search" for focus. I kept the 300L F/4 and converter and got the 100-400L IS lens which I use exclusively for bird shots. Anyway, have users here found the 300L F/4 IS to work better with the Canon 20D than with the 10D (less focus searching)?

Thanks,

The 300mm F/4L IS is a wonderful lens :) I love mine
though still can't decide if I want to sell it for a 100-400L.
Part of me says yes, other part reminds me how great the 300 is
