I was trying to go out tonight and shoot some ridiculous MM shots of the moon with my 500mm, stacked TC's, on my 7D, and I cannot get the 1.4X II Canon TC to lock into the 2X II as it is supposed to. the 1.4 inserts flush into the back of the 2x but then it refuses to rotate into the locked position. It locks onto the back of the lens itself fine, but then of course the 2X will not connect to the back of the 1.4x because of the design. Has anyone else had this problem?

Nevermind, I bought the 1.4x used a little while back. It appears the black plastic ring around the edge of the TC that competes the weather sealing with the lens fell out at some point, and the previous owner tried to put it back in, but did so backwards so it was not flush with the rest of the lens, I took it back out and put it in the other way, it went in flush, and voila, everything works as advertised.

2,240mm moon shots here I come!

Post one/some, if you get any quality ones, please. :) I find it tricky to get decent shots..even of just the moon, when stacking.

1400mm FL I assume?

You'll be struggling to fit the whole thing in frame.

Sorry, I forgot to come back and put up the picture.

I also took an image of the moon without the TC's, and put it directly into the other file for an exact size comparison:
